December 2015

The long awaited 475 publication is complete and hopefully winging its way to all who purchased a copy.

It was a privilege for the Archive to be a part of this project and it seems very strange not to be checking dates, figures and names as part of the working day. Not that the pace has slowed. Senior boys from Tilman paid several visits to research the school life, rugby players and the lost boys of the Great War, to help with their House Drama.

Members of the History teaching staff are continuing with the Roll of Honour Twitter feed and researching OBs and the Battle of the Somme.

Fry’s House is researching their 50 year history, with a view to a short presentation to House before 2015 draws to a close.

Several newly catalogued artefacts are making their way up to Kings and four pieces of artwork, that were part of the WWI Chapel Exhibition in 2014, are returning to the Chapel as a permanent display for all to enjoy. Which brings me, to a group of Prep School children who paid an impromptu visit to the Archive with their Head, Mr Hornshaw, after a Chapel service recently. The boys especially liked seeing how the rolling bays worked and the Exhibition Room got the ‘thumbs up’ from them all.

Research, requests and visits have continued apace since September with the promise from several of our visitors to search their ‘school boxes’, for future donations.
