Crested china miniature, Chapel sketch, "Snow blowing, Chiltern Hills"

The school’s Transport Manager, Alan Gillman, spotted these two items, whilst browsing the internet and kindly donated them to the collection.

William Henry Goss developed a range of crested china, sold in areas where there was a public school or college. This miniature vase is one such piece.

Arcadian vase

The sketch of the Chapel is taken from the February 1897 copy of The Builder, a journal of architecture, which began publication in 1843. The journal was renamed Building in 1966.

Chapel copy

This little 8"x6" watercolour entitled ‘Snow blowing, Chiltern Hills’ was painted by Arthur Rider OB Adders and Head of School 1928.

An eBay find, kindly donated by Mary Casserley (former Art Technician).
