This collection of pen and ink drawings of characters from an O.T.C. Camp, were sent to Major ‘Hoppy’ Hopkins, who subsequently left them in a non-descript brown envelope, to be discovered, whilst rummaging through a huge box of newspapers and tatty copies of the Berkhamstedian magazine. The rather accomplished artists were Charles de Lisle Gaussen, OB Bees, 1914 and A.H. d’Egville, OB St John’s, 1910.
Private d’Egville can be seen, middle row, far right in the group photo taken in 1909 at Bisley, when the school shooting team competed for the Ashburton Shield.
