A splendid Rugby Cap has been donated to the School Archive by Mr Peter Hodge OB (Incents 1958). The cap belonged to Peter’s father, Reginald George Hodge OB (St Johns 1926). The photograph shows RGH, seated in the second row, second from right.

He is the only member of the pictured squad to have played in four seasons, from 1922 – 1926 and his school record shows great achievement in numerous other sports. The sporting gene certainly courses through the Hodge family veins.

Peter’s sport was Long Running and his son, Andrew Triggs Hodge excels in rowing, having competed in three Olympic Games, Athens 2004 in the eight, Beijing2008 and London 2012 in the coxless 4, winning Gold on both occasions.

Our thanks go to Mr Hodge for his generous donation.

A rather beautiful book with colour plates, illustrations and text was given to the Archive by Mrs Andrews, whose sons, Benedict and Finlay attend the School (Bees).

This copy of the Lorsch Gospels was reproduced by her father, Mr Anthony Clarke, who was a religious books publisher.

The entire work originated in the Scriptorium of the Court at Aachen, about 810, presumably at the commission of Charlemagne. After centuries of separation, the four parts which comprise the Lorsch Gospels were united in the Coronation Hall of the Holy Roman in Aachen, Germany, on the occasion of the 1965 exhibition of the Council of Europe, “Charlemagne: His Achievements and Influence”.

A definite future exhibit…….watch this space.
