After its discovery in an old Sainsbury's carrier bag, this bronze plaque was refurbished and mounted on oak and sits back in its rightful place, on the outside wall of The Beeches building, a part of Berkhamsted Preparatory school. The inscription on the plaque reads -
The British Red Cross Society and the Order of St. John gratefully acknowledge that this building was converted and used as an Auxiliary Hospital, worked by a voluntary staff, during the Great War.
